Beaches

If the hustle and bustle of Havana has you hankering for a seaside escape, plan a day or side trip to Playas del Este, a stretch of sandy beaches just 17 kilometers east of Havana. The turquoise shoreline starts at Bacuranao and ends at Playa Jibacoa, home of Havana Club rum and underwater coral reefs.  If you’re looking for luxurious beach resorts with amenities, Santa Maria is your best bet.

Or head to the Hicacos Peninsula and the popular – and touristy - resort town of Varadero, once the playground of Al Capone and America’s rich and famous.  Located 140 kilometres east of Havana and 35 kilometers from Varadero International Airport the pristine beach strip is home to all-inclusive hotels, luxurious spa resorts, abandoned mansions a golf course and mysterious caves ripe for exploration.
